ÜSTÜN ENERGY was formed in late 2014 to create a new generation of consultancy in the wind energy and environment market. Most consultancies prefer to assist their customers with off the shelf products, but there are occasions where this approach cannot adequately address the client’s needs. Sometimes conventional methods may not work and transferring the latest scientific advances to engineering applications becomes a necessity.
ÜSTÜN ENERGY provides support to its customers with target-oriented scientific research. The objective of ÜSTÜN ENERGY is to merge state-of-the-art scientific knowledge with engineering practices, using decision making software and other engineering tools, such as review reports, technical documents, white papers and technical courses. ÜSTÜN ENERGY offers services through its full-time employees and associates from Denmark, Greece, Germany and UK who will listen to you and suggest a customer-tailored scientific research approach by employing all necessary expertise.

ÜSTÜN ENERGY was formed by Assist.Prof. Ferhat Bingöl from Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) at the Technology Development Zone of the Institute (IZTEKGEB), in agreement with the Turkish Ministry for Science and Industry initiative 4691, dated July 6, 2001.
Dr. Ferhat Bingöl has over 10 years’ experience in wind energy research, as researcher and scientist at Denmark Technical University Wind Energy Department, one of the world’s most prestigious wind energy laboratories (formerly known as Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy). Dr. Bingöl holds a MSc in Wind Energy and a PhD in Wind Energy from the same university.
His wide-ranging studies revolve around wind databases, wind atlas generation, lidar measurements, complex terrain studies, GIS and satellite wind measurements. As an academic, he is a recognized ‘expert witness’ on the topic of wind energy in Turkish Courts but no longer serves as one not to have to avoid potential conflicts of interest with his consultancy activity. He is also a member of the Danish Society of Engineers (IDA), the Wind Energy Association of Turkey (TÜREB), the Greek Wind Energy Association (ELETAEN) and the Turkish Society of Mechanical Engineers (MMO).
Dr. Marika Galanidi joined the firm as shareholder in 2018, contributing her skillset and in depth knowledge of the marine environment and expanding the service envelope of ÜSTÜN ENERGY to include topics related to marine ecology, environmental protection and impact assessment. Dr. Galanidi has over 10 years’ experience in marine ecology research, as a scientist at the School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University, UK and Ocean Science and Technology Institute of 9 Eylül University, Turkey. Dr. Galanidi holds an MSc in Marine Environmental Protection and a PhD in Marine Ecology from Bangor University.
Dr. Galanidi has worked on topics related to energy and the marine environment, such as the effect of offshore wind farms on seabirds and the benthos, and interactions with invasive alien species. She has several experiences with EU projects (COST, FP7, European Commission) as a researcher.
